How it works

This unique products has an integrated thermal circuit breaker.

When current is flowing through a conductor (for example, a copper cable), it will create heat due to the electrical resistance of the cable. In a thermal circuit breaker, the current is flowing trough a bimetallic strip, which is made of two metals with different expansion rates. Under normal conditions, the strip remains in position , keeping the circuit closed.

If excessive current flows, the heat in the strip will also increases, causing the bimetallic strip to bend. As it bends beyond a certain point, it triggers and opens the circuit, which will stop the current from flowing and turning the electronics after the switch (your bilgepump for example) off.
Once the strip cools, it will automatically reset. This mechanism prevents overheating and potential damage in electrical systems, making thermal circuit breakers essential for your boat, RV or industrial equipment
